What to expect from your Standard Poodle Breeder

As a responsible breeder for Standard Poodles, we wish to improve the temperament and advance the better interests of the breed. This involves breeding for improvement of physical, emotional, and mental characteristics of our dogs. In order to reach this desired outcome, Posh Poodles has created a standard for our breeding practices.

    • No female is intentionally bred before 2 years of age and will not have more than three litters.  All females and males will be spayed/neutered by the age of 6.
    • All dogs are health tested before being bred with OFA hips and elbows, thyroid, SA, vWD DNA, and CERF eyes
    • All dogs will receive an AKC Championship* title before they are bred.
    • Only dogs with parents and grandparents with AKC Championship titles will be bred.
    • Our beloved dogs are handled from birth and raised in our home with our family. They are not kennel dogs and are appropriately socialized.
    • All puppies are sold with a purchasing agreement and 2 year guarantee for genetic defects.
    • All pet quality dogs are sold with AKC limited registration and must be spayed/neutered.
    • All show quality dogs shall be co-owned between the Breeder and the Buyer until the sold dog is an AKC Champion* and has had all its genetic testing done. After which the breeder will sign off the co-ownership of the dog to the Buyer.
    • Breeder support for the life of the dog.
    • Once you are ready to take your puppy home, we will provide you with the following:
      • A fleece blanket with the scent of the mother and siblings
      • Paperwork of parent’s and grandparent’s health testing
      • Guides on what to feed and not feed your dog
      • Pedigree papers
      • Grooming tips/basic lessons

*Champion: Dogs must acquire 15 points, including 2 majors won under different judges and at least one point under a third different judge.
